Message I’ve been working on this and might have found the problem but need some help. My Aux fan (electric) is always on including cold starts. I’ve tested the Temp sensor and its reading good ohms hot/cold and also verified my car kicks up a little when I pull the temp sensor connector while running. This simulates a problem to the ECU and should kick the Aux fan on and raise the idle a little higher. So it seems the Temp sensor/connection is good and functioning properly. I’ve also tested the Rad fan relay with my headlight relay and it still runs continuously with either relay in. I then began to check the back of the fuse assembly box where the Rad fan relay lives (thanks to a 2002 post) and noticed something strange. The blue wire going to pin 3 of the Rad fan relay is connected to a longer blue wire with a splice cap and routed out of the fuse box to a screw that’s grounded. I’ve tried reading the schematics but I can’t seem to grasp the picture. If this splice is supposed to go to ground (directly in front of the fuse box assembly), what else should I check?

Crude Rad fan relay diagram:
Pin 3 – Blue strange splice wire -----/ ----- Pin 5 – Green thicker going somewhere
Pin 1 – Green going to AC fuse 10AMP @@@@ Pin 2–Purple thicker going somewhere

I’ve found a nice schematic here (bottom left) .

History:
The fan was seized up when I purchased the car 2 years ago. I replaced the fan several months ago and it drives me crazy running all the time.

- Digital Auto AC and it’s a 91 NA (single speed fan).

Any help would be appreciated.
